Bonjour!

The first few days at home I succeeded in running around like a chicken with its head cut off. I got in from Alex's place in MN, bought a wedding present, got dressed and ran out to the wedding last Sat. The wedding was really fun. It was practically a mini high school reunion [in a good way] with all of the people I actually did want to see again. It also made me realize that A. getting maried someday would not be horrible and that B I need to work more on keeping in touch with folks. Luckily, THE LIZ seems to have had the same epiphany on keeping in touch.

The morning after the wedding I woke up to my mother anouncing that Kathryn had already arrived. Somehow I had managed to sleep for 10 hours. For some reason I didn't question when Kathryn said "There is a dead cat in my car." I just first ascertained that she had not killed a neighbors cat and then when and where we should hold the services. On her way to my place she had picked up an injured cat by the side of the road. The fuzzy buddy died in transit to an animal hospital. So we proceeded to hold a full funeral service with the Egyptian Book of the Dead. [ I don't usually practice pagan religions, but ancient Egyptians worshiped cats- so it seemed fitting.] According to Kathryn, I am the only person that she knows who can make a kitty funeral fun... still not sure if that was a complement.

Day 3
Managed to read an entire novel and not do anything else.

Day 4
Dentist. No cavities!

Father manages to somehow break my computer. Unable to connect to internet ahhhhhh.

The fourth of July was great out here. I ran the Silent Auction for the Museum and raised $800. more than the previous year! Our group finished set-up around 10:00am and headed over to the Doughnut shop for a good ole fashioned coffee break. While we were chatting Darryl wandered into the shop. I asked him what he was up to and he replied that he was out walking the dogs. [Daryl is diabetic and can not eat too many sweets.] So whenever he has been telling Mary Kay that he is walking the dogs, he has really been sneaking out for a doughnut. I guess Lynne ran into him that morning to and said hi. Instead of looking behind him [where she was] he started to look up at the sky.

Lynne rocked the morning by dropping off a small parcel of "kitty grass" for Lucky. So far she hasn't eaten any, I hope she'll like it. The funny thing was that I almost bought her some the other day and decided that 2 cat toys was enough for one day of shopping.

The first cake walk I entered I won! The cake is excellent! It was also actually breakfast today... woops.

Brianna [5 yr old granddaughter of Carolyn, cool lady that owns the place I am staying at] and I hung out on my break. For some reason jumping around the Museum grounds and playing ring toss are alot more fun with a 5 yr old. Brianna's cousins had been here since the weekend as well, but had to leave yesterday morning. Shelby ran out to tell me that I was always welcome at there house as I was leaving to work. It was really cute. Since Brianna's been here I've had a permanent shadow. Unfortunatly my cat is terrorized by her. For some reason knowing songs about worms that burp makes me really cool.

I "won" two things in the Silent Auction. A wine bottle stopper, which I plan to put to good use, and a tea towel/ candy gift basket. I think that I will break it up and give the contents to folks.

Oh, I also bought a plant at the plant sale. It is a succulant with string of pearls hanging down the pot. I know that I shouldn't buy plants before moving... but it was so cute, supports a good cause, and I had never seen string of pearls before.

After walking Dougan I headed over to Mary Kay's other house on the bay to watch the fireworks. I was so tired, but when I went to take a nap my shadow just kept following.

Okay... belated stuff.

The Grays Harbor Lighthouse had a "first day cover" stamp ceremony on the grounds to commemorate the release of its new lighthouse stamp. The ceremony was, well, a ceremony. The neat part was that I was able to cancel the stamps I purchased that day with a "First day of issue stamp." Afterwards I gave tours of the lighthouse, where I got to shake hands with Captain Robert Gray! [Historically the guy that found Grays Harbor where I live out here.] This guy was in the airforce, but hey, it was still cool.

Pirate Daze was a few weeks ago too. A couple of my friends from Oly came down for the celebration. We all dressed up like pirates and staged sword fights in the street. We were able to tour the Lady Washington, the boat used in Pirates of the Carribean as the Interceptor. While on board my friend Jen compared swords with a 10yr old. Unfortunatly his was far cooler.

Last weekend was my first triathalon. It rocked. I lucked out and my frind Lindsay in Bellingham was not only able to let me stay at her place, but cheer me on through the race as well:)! My swim time was awesome, but I really need a road bike. People kept whizzing by despite my frantic pedaling. I considered taking a break for a garage sale while going up one of the hills. It looked like they had some pretty great stuff. Then I realized that I had no where to put a bookshelf, or any money with me. Afterwards Lindsay, Andrew, & I headed out to the lake for swimming/ wake boarding. We had a great time.

I have no idea. If anyone understands the logic of inebriated folks let me know.

The weekend following I finally embarked on the epic trip to Canada. Yes, Canadians are cool.

Kathryn and I went on our Invading Innocence trip last weekend. Kathryn started the trip that Monday, as she was driving. I started out for the airport on Thursday. On the way to my distant relatives home in Des Moines, WA by Seatec Airport I managed to get slighthly lost as usual. Actually I hold my lil sis holey
